Scrapbook belonging to Mrs. Hannah Winbolt, a silk-weaver and suffragette, containing newspaper cuttings, posters, speeches, election papers, letters and photographs
Mrs. Winbolt founded the Women's Liberal Association Hazel Grove branch in 1891 and served as its president; she went on to serve as a committee member of this society in London alongside Countess Kearney of Kensington, Lady Aberdeen, the wife of the governor-general of Canada, and Lady Carlisle of Castle Howard
Gave many speeches across the country at locations inclusing Manchester, Salford, Bury, Liverpool and London on the subject of women's rights, equal pay for equal work and equal suffrage; spoke alongide Dr Richard Pankhurst, husband of Emmeline, in Chadwick; spoke at a demonstration in Hyde Park in 1894 on the abolition of the House of Lords.
Personally met with and petitioned the then home secretary Mr Asquith and other MPs, including Mr Gladstone, on the subject of female factory inspectors, which were granted. A petition was also presented from female textile workers in Cheshire in favour of equal suffrage

Notable letters include those from the Secretary of State for the Home Department, and from Winston Churchill, dated 1908, who was then serving as the President of the Board of Trade
