The East Cheshire Regional Planning Committee was established in 1928 and consisted of representatives of the local authorities for Stockport, Hyde, Bredbury and Romiley, Hazel Grove and Bramhall, Marple, Whaley Bridge and Disley, plus Cheshire and Derbyshire County Councils. It ceased to exist in 1948 when the Town and Country Planning Act, 1947 (10 & 11 Geo 6 c53) came into operation.
