Brinnington Road runs from right to left across the centre, curving right to become Lingard Lane before reaching the railway bridge. St Bernadette's school and church are prominent near the bottom. The semi-detached houses just above the school are in the 1930s Manor Road estate. In 1989 motorways M63/M66 were opened across the fields above the estate.
