Chestergate, town centre, in 1895 with Lower Carr Green in the foreground, now Mersey Square built in 1914. Also shown is Stockport Sewerage Scheme to Heaton Mersey in the course of construction. The Mersey Inn stands to the left of the picture not seen however. Clogger Brown's shop is the first building on the right. The road to the right (running out of the picture) leads to Rock Row and St. Peters Square.
