Old Stay Shop, Lower Hillgate, town centre (The Olde Staye Shoppe). This building dates back some hundreds of years probably before Bluff King Hal....The house was originally a farmhouse as there was much land at the back through which ran a clean brook. It might have been put up by the Lord of the Manor for a Court House, image dated c1913.
