The road viaduct in the centre is Wellington Road South (A6); beyond, to the left, is Merseyway shopping precinct and in the distance, seven tower blocks of flats in Brinnington; to the right is Chestergate and the Co-op store and the cooling tower of Stockport power station. St. Mary's C of E church in the market place is just visible on the right. In the foreground is the bus park, occupied mainly by Greater Manchester Transport buses, with two National Express coaches. The land in front is being cleared in preparation for construction of the new bus station.
