Pedestrians crossing at the corner of Waterloo Road and Hillgate. The Tabernacle Chapel seen here during demolition in June 1979 was built in 1807 on the site of the first non-conformist Chapel in Stockport. It closed in 1956 & became a Club. In 1967 the great American guitarist Jimi Hendrix played here as did Pink Floyd during the period when they were led by the legendary Syd Barrett.
