Wesleyan Sunday School - Hazel Grove

1876:c.1876
Archives
The Wesleyan Sunday and Day School on Chapel Street was built in 1823. The building here (taken approx 1874) had been enlarged to increase the pupils from 400 to 600. In perspective to today, the school stood where Thomas Hooley's Printworks is now, with the left wall being its car park - which up to the late 1970s was the graveyard of the old Bullock Smithy Chapel which stood on the Electricity Board storage garages. Opposite is now the Retirement Flats. In 1914 a new school was built on the corner of Wesley and Chapel Streets and this building was demolished.
