Picture Palace - Hazel Grove

The Hazel Grove Picture Palace (better known as the "Cosy Grove") opened in 1913 on Commercial Road, built by John Gosling who also owned the Cock Hotel on London Road. Here pensioners are seen leaving after viewing King George VI's Coronation. The cinema closed in 1960 and is now the site of the Post Office Sorting Office. A second cinema (the Marcliff) on Macclesfield Road opened in 1939.
