Charles Marsland stands before his weaving shed built by Uncle William behind his house in Marsland's Yard (off Hatherlow Lane) when it was on the original line of London Road. At the beginning of the 18th century when the old road was straightened, William gained a new frontage on it and built three new cottages for his relatives. The yard has since been demolished.
