J. T. Dean's grocers shop at 8 Hatherlow Lane, with Mrs. Dean holding her baby. Before her marriage she was Annie Barlow, an orphan, who lived at Siddington Hall. She met John Dean when she was an apprentice at Grundey's, the bakers, of Grundey Street. They were married in 1887 and opened this shop, where she made pies and cakes for sale while he was a greengrocer. The shop moved in 1912 to new premises on Chapel Street. The shop here still exists today as a "Poodle Parlour" (back of the Grapes public house).
