Notice In Market Superintendent's Office

1985:1985
Archives
From Stockport Photographic Society. This historical wooden notice describes the Tolls Chargeable for market stallholders to Stockport Corporation in 1847. For example in the Covered Market the Shop Stalls paid 5 1/2d (five and a half old pence) per square foot per week. Other stalls paid 2d (two old pence) per square foot per day. In the Market Hall the daily toll was 2d per square foot, which is also what the outside stallholders were charged. At the bottom of the notice it says "Charges Additional To the Above May Be Levied For Other Services." Part of a lockable filing cabinet can be seen to the left of the picture. The wallpaper design of the office is clear too.
