Archives
Herbert Oldham ran his business, known as "Cabby Oldham's", from this house on London Road. From early in the 19th century he met people from trains and provided transport for weddings and funerals. Among his horse drawn vehicles were a Victoria, a Landau, a Waggonette, a Hansom cab and trap. His stables were at 3 Lever Street, which later became a garage when he changed to motor coaches. The woman in the photo is Cabby's mother Florence.(Source: Heather Coutie)
