The duel
2017
Large Print
When Lieutenant D'Hubert is sent to arrest Lieutenant Feraud for wounding a civilian in a duel, Feraud truculently insists on fighting the other officer - sparking a deadly feud between the two Hussars which will erupt in recurrent duels across many miles and many years. The japes of the law-clerks in the office of M. Derville are interrupted by the arrival of an old man in a tattered box-coat, seeking the attorney. He claims he is Chabert - the brave cavalry Colonel, beloved by Napoleon, who was presumed slain at Eylau. And he wants M. Derville to win back the money and honour stolen away from him.
