British biographical drama based on real events in which Aidan Gillen stars as Irish comedian Dave Allen, chronicling his life from a young boy in a strict Catholic school up until the height of his career in comedy with various slots on television. Famous for his laid-back, chat show-style stand-up performances armed with a bar stool, a cigarette and a glass of what was always assumed to be whisky, Allen delighted his viewers with his controversial humour mainly centred around the Catholic religion.
