Peterloo : voices, sabres and silence
Phythian, Graham2018
Book
Unsurprisingly, emotive responses have coloured many commentaries on the massacre of St Peter's field on 16 August 1819. Many descriptions of the incident, for reasons of self-interest, lack of information, or political dishonesty, have done poor service to the complete unvarnished truth. This book sets out to reconsider three aspects of Peterloo: the forewarnings, the flashpoint, and the aftermath.
