Notes:
Known as the Adlington Manuscript because it came from Adlington Hall. The work consists largely of 16th and 17th century transcripts of documents concerning the history of Cheshire. Much of the volume is of a general nature, eg coats of arms, a good deal is devoted to Macclesfield, its forest and school, and to Stockport. A number of sources used to compile the volume have not survived.
