The first building on the left of the picture is the Red Lion Hotel which served drinks for the last time in April 1929 before it was demolished to make way for the erection of Burton's Buildings. The tower on the left of the street is on Hollingdrake's building and in the distance is Stockport's most famous landmark, the railway viaduct.
