London Road Cottages - Hazel Grove

1931:c. 1931
Archives
News cutting from the Manchester Guardian c.1931 showing the soon to be demolished cottages on London Road. The distant building is the Red Lion public house (demolished 1992). The cottage next to it was once the "Fox and Goose Inn" or the "Old Fox". Clementina Turner was the landlady from 1809 until it closed in 1838. Shady Lane (or the Shades) ran up behind this row of cottages to join Button Lane, now Chester Road, by the present Conservative Club. The whole site is now an American Golf shop, car wash and McDonald's Burger Restaurant.
