Market Place

This is a photograph of a not very clear, old image. The Market Hall front is on the right of the picture and the Produce Hall, with its distinctive pillars, on the left. It is a busy market day. The back of a horse and cart is seen on the right, while on the left several stalls can be seen fully stocked, although their wares are not clear. None have an awning, although the shop on the corner has one. In the background several tall factory chimneys can be seen. The street light right in front of the Produce Hall high up is globular and could be electric - using the Hall's electricity? Below that and on the nearside wall are gas lamps. A large pair of spectacles jutting out from the wall indicate one of the shops (Bennets) is an opticians.
