Junction with Manchester Road (immediately in front at bottom of image). On the corner the remains of the old toll house which was used as a District Bank until demolished in a road accident. Across the road the District Bank are operating from a domestic caravan. The shops are A J Watkins Paints and Wallpaper, a shop whose name is obscured by a street lamp, which the District Bank later moved into A E & A Hallworth, Confectioner and Tobacconist, with a phone kiosk in front. Off to the right is St Thomas Primary/Junior School. Wellington Road is crossed here by a zebra crossing.
