Aerial photo looking towards the Rising Sun fork junction. To the left can be seen the oval track of the Greyhound Stadium (off Macclesfield Road) which was demolished in 1969. On the right, as you follow the railway track down from the viaduct, can be seen Hazel Grove's second station known as "The Midland". The station was built in 1902 as the Manchester to Stockport line was extended via Hazel Grove through to New Mills, Buxton, and onto Derby by the Midland Railway Company. But, due to its isolation and low use, the station was closed in 1917. It was demolished in 1934.
