Membership
Stockport Libraries services are free to all, irrespective of where you live. You can obtain a library card from any library in Stockport. There is no minimum age, but those under the age of 18 years require permission from their parents to join.
Borrowing / Loans
DVDs can be borrowed for one week; all other items may be borrowed for three weeks.
You may borrow up to ten books and eight DVDs or talking books. These can be borrowed from and returned to any branch of Stockport Libraries.
Returns
Please return items no later than the due date as they may be subject to overdue charges. Items can be returned at any of the libraries in Stockport.
Renewals
Items may be renewed at any branch. You can renew items over the telephone during opening hours, please have your library card number on hand. You can also renew your items online via our website – www.stockport.gov.uk/libraries. If a reservation has been placed on an item you have on loan a renewal is not permitted.
You can also renew items using the My Account facility. You will need to login to use this facility.
Overdues
Overdue fines are charged for the late return of items. For full details of fine and fees please see our website – www.stockport.gov.uk/libraries. Reminder emails are sent 7 days prior to the return date, which can be changed to 5 or 3 days prior. In order for these reminders to be sent, a contact email address will need to be held on your library account.
Reservations
You can also place reservations electronically using the Library Catalogue.
You can reserve any item available in Stockport Libraries for FREE. If you wish to reserve an item which we do not hold this Service is available for an up-front fee. You can reserve items yourself via our website www.stockport.gov.uk/libraries, or over the telephone during opening hours, or by the staff at any of our libraries in Stockport.Debarral
Library privileges are suspended if you have overdues items and outstanding charges.
Interlibrary Loans
Items not held by the Library may be requested from a range of public and academic libraries. Please use the online request form to place an interlibrary loan request. You will need to enter your borrower ID and password to use this service. Non-refundable charges apply for these requests.

Items not held by the Library may be suggested for purchase. Please use the online request form to suggest an item for purchase. You will need to enter your borrower ID and password to use this service. Non-refundable charges apply for these requests.
