This was copied from Stockport Official Handbook 1949, p35. It clearly shows the Public Library and Carlton Cinema on Wellington Road South (A6). The old cars are clearly shown driving up the hill from Mersey Square. The pub, Bell & Co, could be called the Manchester Hotel.
