This photograph is from Hurst Vol. 5 p. 130 via Stockport Photographic Society. On the immediate left is the Boars Head Hotel, the street is cobbled and there is an awning over Emerson Tailor's shop opposite the Market Hall. There are pedestrians and children in the picture, but they are indistinct. To the back of the picture is St. Mary's Church, with the entrance gate clearly visible. Some wires loop from the Market Hall to 3 metal poles. These poles taper, have four legs and have criss-crossed "rungs" to the top. They may connect to lights over the Market Hall.
