Custodial history:
The Greater Manchester Archaeological Unit has maintained and enhanced the Greater Manchester Sites and Monuments Record since 1980 and it is now an invaluable planning and research tool. Their research has resulted in over 30 years of successful community archaeological based projects. The unit was based at The University of Manchester, however, since 23rd April 2012 has been based at Salford University Centre for Applied Archaeology. This move is in conjunction with the unit changing to become part of The Association of Greater Manchester Archaeological Advisory Service. This service is under the guidance of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA).Kept by the creators, Greater Manchester Archaeological Unit, and donated to Stockport Archive Service.
