Heaton Norris Urban District Council took over the functions of the Local Board (qv) following the Local Government Act 1894 (56 & 57 Vict. c73). In 1913 the District was added to Stockport Borough by the Stockport (Extension) Order 1913 (3 & 4 Geo 5 c137).
