Photo of Robert Joplin Fletcher - apprenticed at Christy's Hatworks, he later opened his own works in Oak Street and then become an accountant. As an active Anglican he worked for both Sunday and day schools, as well as being Honorary Secretary of the Mechanic's Institute. He was later an Independent on Hazel Grove and Bramhall UDC in 1901. His series of lectures on local history was published as "A Short History of Hazel Grove". He died aged 83 on 23 October 1928
