It's a busy day at the market and is obviously warm as people are without coats. Sivori's ice cream van is to the right of the photo, above which can be seen the "ramparts" of the Market Superintendent's building. In the foreground a couple of children are in pushchairs and one lady has a shopping trolley. In the background the twin towers of Lancashire Hill can be seen.
