The Comics and Cosplay: Caring for Young Minds project is an Engaging Libraries project funded by Carnegie UK and The Wellcome Trust and run by Oldham Libraries. The project built on the MH:2K model for engaging young people in Oldham in conversations about mental health - empowering 14-25 year olds to identify the issues they see as most important, engaging with their peers in discussing and exploring these topics and working with key local decision-makers to make recommendations for change.Oldham Theatre Workshop were commissioned to write A Standard Day, which was performed for audiences of young people that included students, young carers and members of Youth Out in Oldham. After the show they shared their stories and experiences of mental health with writer Rachael Smith and artist Jacob Phillips, which provided the inspiration behind Jack & Lucy.Jack & Lucy was launched in May 2018 at Oldham Comic Con, alongside an exhibition exploring Comics and Cosplay and how graphic novels can support, educate and inform mental health.
