Festival of Libraries 2023
Festival of Libraries, taking place between 7 to 11 June 2023, is a joyful celebration of Greater Manchester's 133 libraries and the role they play in wellbeing, culture, creativity and more.
This is a festival for everyone with loads to do in Stockport and across the city region. What will you enjoy?
Look for a book 22 to 27 May
The festival gets an early start with Look for a Book. A treasure hunt with 48 children's books hidden across Stockport Libraries and parks.
If you find a book, its yours to keep, and you are entered to win tickets to meet the author! This year's book is Bake Me a Story written by Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain.

Writing for Wellbeing 7 June
You are invited to take part in a Writing for Wellbeing Workshop and discover a way to relieve stress and emotional turbulance through writing. Facilitated by the Centre for New Writing at The University of Manchester, this event takes place at Marple Library on Wednesday 7 June from 12 noon to 2pm. Spaces are limited.

Fishing for Rainbows Children's Theatre Show 8 June
This exciting theatre show is an adaptation of Oliver Sykes new bok Fishing for Rainbows. The 50 minute show follows twelve year old Romani girl called Kezia who, after the loss of her mum, is desperate to show her family that she can do anything a boy can. Suitable for ages 5 plus.

Writing Squad Poetry 9 June
Three writers from three cities: Reykjavik, Hull and Manchester, have spent time visiting each other's cities to develop original writing in response to the theme of weather. Icelandic writer Ingolfur Eiriksson, Jay Mitra and Lydia Marchant will share their work at Stockport Central Library, Friday 9 June at 5.45pm. This is a project managed by the Writing Squad, Reykjavik City of Literature and Manchester City of Literature.

Human Library 10 June
This exciting project encourages curious conversations between people with different life experiences, in the hope that our stereotypes and biases will be re-examined. You are invited to visit the Human Library and check out a book, who is a person willing to talk openly about their subject.No booking required. Come for 30 minutes or sty for more.
