The Cheadle Hulme Crocket Club was formed in 1881 by local enthusiasts, founding members included, Gerald Colles (first club president), James Rome, C.D Cheetham, B.W. Ashwell and R. Stockwell. The original ground was on Ladybridge Road. In 1892 The Manchester and District Cricket Association was formed and Cheadle Hulme Cricket Club joined and were members of the Association of 82 seasons. 1896 a bowling green was opened , with the help of Mr Sherly the tenant of the land. In 1922 the cricket, tennis and bowling green were purchased, the club owned 5 acres of land. In 1939 a £3,000 two story club house was built. 8th May, 1946 the club house burnt down. The club house was rebuilt in 1949.Didbury Rugby Club merged with Cheadle Hulme in the post war period . Manchester R.FU merged with Cheadle Hulme in c. 1967 becoming The Manchester Football Club and Cheadle Hulme Cricket Club. Land was purchased at Grove Lane and new facilities were built.
